I hope you all had a happy Halloween! I went as Poison Ivy and it was difficult I tell you. I had to sew the leaves onto my corset, my eyes hurt from squinting at the needle!

Harvey Nichols Beauty Event in Assocation with Grazia

So last week my and my best friend went down to our local Harvey Nichols to see what the beauty event with Grazia had to offer.

The night was well organised with many demonstrations going on around the store. Me and the best friend obviously made a beeline for the MAC counter. I purchased a rather lovely blusher and an eyeshadow. Also because I paid £10 for my ticket I got £10 off my purchases. I thought it was a well organised event, and the staff were very helpful. Although the MAC staff were overstretched as usual.

Roll on the fashion...

So I thought I should have a little gander at some more shows that have been going on while I slave away at uni and try and battle through this dreaded cold. Its not fun! I wish I was sat on the front rows, alas I am not important enough. However I am slightly optimistic as many bloggers have being popping up at fashion weeks across the world.
Anyway I digress, back to business...
I'm just going to take a look at a few of my favourite designers because well I haven't really got time to be making comment on every single designer at every single fashion week. You can get that kind of dedication at style.com.

Well as soon as I laid eyes on this collection my heart did a kind of a flutter. The digital prints on the fabrics and the amazing hues of all the colours together make this my favourite collection of the season. Many think that McQueen can be a little out there and many of his pieces may not be great for strutting to your local shop in. However I personally think that fashion is all about the art of 'dressing up' and he certainly delivers in that department. I think I would pair his digital print purple/blue dress with a pair of this seasons leather pants for an edgy look.

Every season Gareth has to live up to the last one, which must put pressure on the poor guy. He seems to have stepped away from what he is traditional known for this season in favour of something just out of his comfort zone. I think he pulled it off! I especially love the slashed leather leggings (well I think that's what they are).

For this I pulled out all the black and white from their collection because I think that is what they have created the best looks in. The stripey blazer and the PVC leggings are amazing. I'd love to get my hands on Topshop's PVC leggings (alas I cannot afford Givenchy) however I think I may need to think of a whole outfit first before committing.

Galliano can always be trusted to put on a magnificent show for the eagerly awaiting crowd, and by all accounts he didn't disappoint this year. The clothes had a 'I've just raided my Grandma's dressing up box feel' which in the way do I mean it in a bad way. Dainty dresses with structured coats and mix of colours meant the collection was certainly not boring! Although you may not wear these looks in their entirety, you can at least pick a piece from the look which would look equally good on its own or paired with something else.

New Look TV

It has been brought to my attention that high street chain New Look have launched their very own TV programme. The programme, lasting 10 minutes, features a variety of different aspects including the trend cam.
I like this idea because its giving people a chance to be a presenter for a day and for someone who wants to work in fashion journalism this is an appealing factor!

This is what the high street needs to become more involved in, including their customers and making them feel valued!

Bloggers meet up...

So the other Thursday I attended an event at the Azucar bar in Leeds, the basic gist of the night was to meet other local bloggers and to give feed back on a campaign Havana Club were doing.

We were asked a few questions about their new website Havana Cultura and a twitter campaign their are launching on the 19th of October. A gave a few opinions on what I thought would work best and was enjoying the free mojitos!

I was really pleased to be asked to something like this as many bloggers meets are in London and it isn't that easy for me to just pop down for the night. There weren't any fashion bloggers there but it was nice to talk to others and see what influences them on their blogs.

Anyway this is what I wore on the night:

Bought myself this little number when I was over in NYC...

It fits like a dream and gives me a little designer for a smaller price! Although I would love the gorilla dress..... I'm envious of Jane over at Sea of Shoes who I've seen sporting it a few times.

Which brings me to things I am lusting over at the moment and can't afford...

awful bad this summer and neglected my beautiful blog.

Well I shall be much better I swear!

I just got back from NYC... it was amazing. I know that I need to go back and hopefully that I will live there one day.

So maybe I should have a little look at something called fashion week? Yes I shall. Here are a few picks of whats gone down so far...

You can always trust Luella to make a pretty and totally feminine collection. I want want want the polka dot pants, they remind me of childhood but in a good way. The dresses above have an amazing structure which stop the dresses from being too girly and give off the vibe of a power woman.

Gwen Steffani has really held her own with L.A.M.B and this collection goes on to prove that fact. I especially love the hooded jacket; don't think I'd dare to bare like the model above though.

I was surprised to see Lisa from BIG BROTHER making an appearance on the Vivienne Westwood catwalk show. Although she does like to choose shall we say different models? Loved the dresses from Westwood; as always they had a playful edge and not such a straight forward cut to them.

Topshop are still holding their own in the fashion stakes. I especially loved the printed pants, they really appeal to my African print fetish.

Once again Rodarte have made a collection to lust over. I really love the trousers above; they are the kind of trousers which only go with those killer heels you've been saving for a special occasion. The wrapping of fabrics through out this collection really portrays a whimsical edge to the collection but it doesn't stop it being edgy.

I really don't know what all the fuss is about that Mark Fast used 'plus-sized' models. I think they look great and give a different view of how the garments can be worn on different people. It is great that he is trying to bridge the gap so people are not so alienated by fashion because of their size.

I wasn't a massive fan of this collection when scanning through the pictures. However there were a few dresses which had a flirty fun edge to them which I can really see working next Spring/Summer.

As always Burberry Prorsum have done the Mac with the fearless attitude we have come to adore. I especially love the pastel pink (it shouldn't work) mac; the shoulders are an amazing feat!

Wang does slouchy to a tee. If there was a market for up market student clothes I think Alexander Wang would be my choice, rolling up to lectures in his harem pants would make a 9am lecture seem a breeze.
